Mission & Goals
DC MIST is the MD/VA/DC region of the Muslim Interscholastic Tournament. Our mission is to bring high school students together from around the nation to develop leadership, promote communication, and inspire creativity in order to develop a strong identity. We do this through our Annual Tournament.
DC MIST believes that active high school students become active college students. Active college students become active adults within their community. We are dedicated to empowering high school students to be motivated and active within their community. By giving high school students a venue to excel in the arts, sciences, and humanities, they grow up knowing not only that they can be important members of their various communities, but important contributors.
Goals and Objectives
- To create a scholastic tournament for high school students in the MD/VA/DC area.
- To provide high school students with growth opportunities through internships & co-ops.
- To provide high school students with an Islamic curriculum that is supplied by a credited Islamic University or Educational facility through the various categories of MIST.
- To maximize the number of MSAs in local high schools through grassroot efforts.
- To increase the number of competitors to the point where we need to have smaller more local tournaments. Winners of the local tournaments would move onto the State wide tournament.
